Fidalgo Island Rotarian Kurt Nelson was honored this month by Boy Scout Troop 911 here on Fidalgo Island. Kurt has played an instrumental role in helping the troop get started during the past year. Not only did he connect Troop 911 with Fidalgo Island Rotary, so the club to sponsor the troop and allow the troop to officially get started, but Kurt also donated the troop's flags. Kurt has helped the troop plan numerous activities this past year, including volunteer activities, fishing trips and more, which allow them to fulfill requirements to receive merit badges as well as get involved in the community.
