On October 22, Fidalgo Island Community Service Committee decided to do a little "light" gardening for the Anacortes Family Center.  Volunteers showed up with their gardening tools in hand to pull weeds, prune trees and planted 350 tulip and daffodil bulbs that were donated by the Washington Bulb Co. They took a short tour of the building, played on the playground for a few minutes then got to work. They met and spoke a mother and daughter who is staying at the center and found out they had  a lot in common with Tricia Sharp, Marketing and PR Chair. Soon multiple people fro the community showed up to help bringing tools and equipment to help make the job easier.  Mike Hendon, owner of Anacortes Candles cleaned the playground and piled up the compost.  Haley Moon, Anacortes High School Senior, strapped on an industrial leaf blower and cleaned up most of the fall foliage and debris left around the building. We laughed a lot and made some new friends.  Cant wait to see the end result in the spring when the bulbs start to bloom.
